Competitor price monitoring system

The system checks selected stores on a schedule, matches equivalent products and highlights changes that require a decision. Instead of opening dozens of tabs, your team receives a structured report or a dashboard with price history.

When does manual price checking stop working?

A comparison becomes outdated quickly

A spreadsheet prepared in the morning misses later price, promotion and availability changes.

Equivalent products are difficult to match

Different names, variants and bundles require rules based on EAN, SKU or product attributes.

Collected prices alone do not support decisions

The team needs alerts and exceptions, not another table with thousands of unreviewed rows.

From source to a usable output

  1. Sources01

    Stores and marketplaces

Selected products, categories or search results.

  2. Rules02

    Matching and change control

Identifiers, variants, availability, delivery and alert thresholds.

  3. Output03

    Report, Excel or dashboard

Current data, history and a list of changes that need attention.

What the implementation changes

Comparable data on consistent terms

The comparison can include delivery cost, variant, unit of measure and promotion status.

History instead of a single snapshot

See when a value changed, what it was before and how often a competitor adjusts its offer.

Alerts for meaningful events

Notify the team when a price falls below a threshold, a product returns or the price leader changes.

What the scope may include

  • source analysis and product identification rules
  • collection of prices, promotions, availability and delivery costs
  • product matching using EAN, SKU or a set of attributes
  • data validation and detection of unusual changes
  • an update schedule suited to the commercial decision
  • export to Excel, Google Sheets, a database or a dedicated dashboard
  • email alerts or integration with the team's messaging tool
  • logs, operational monitoring and rule documentation

How we launch the first stage

  1. 01

    Sample products and sources

We review representative products, variants and stores before estimating the full scope.

  2. 02

    Comparison model

We define fields, matching rules, frequency and the events that should trigger an alert.

  3. 03

    Implementation and data test

We run collection on a limited scope and compare the output with the original sources.

  4. 04

    Scheduled operation and monitoring

After approval, we expand the scope and enable the schedule and error controls.

Frequently asked questions

How often can competitor prices be updated?

Frequency depends on the number of products, source construction and business goal. A daily report is enough for some teams, while others need several updates per day. We set the schedule after reviewing the sources.

Can the system handle different names for the same product?

Stable identifiers such as EAN or manufacturer codes are the most reliable. When they are unavailable, brand, variant and attributes can be used, but this approach needs additional exception handling.

Does the data require a separate dashboard?

No. A first version can save data in Excel, Google Sheets or an existing database. A dashboard becomes useful when you need filters, history, user roles and a larger product set.
